My Philosophy of Education

I believe that all students, regardless of age, skill, or previous experience, can benefit from a rigorous arts education and should have access to such an education. This benefit not only impacts the students, but also spreads throughout their community.

I believe in giving students as many opportunities to learn in and out of the classroom about topics that interest them in the subject that we are studying. Asking questions at any point in the learning process is encouraged and creates an environment that allows for a student to think critically and make connections to other ideas.

I believe that students best learn from doing after being given an introduction to the topic. Whenever possible, I try to bring in hands-on activities for my students to help them connect with the material. In my classroom, students are given the freedom to fail and try again. Progress is always valued over perfection.
